• Mortal Kombat II is tracking to debut in 5th place with Ca. 60.000 tickets sold during it´s opening weekend and Ca. 65.000 tickets incl. wednesday previews.

This is -59.4% lower than the 1996 film. As a comparison, Annihalation didn´t have a theatrical release in Germany, while Mortal Kombat 2021 only received a theatrical release a month after being released on Digital and when most movie theaters were still closed. It basically only got a limited theatrical release.

• This is another tough weekend for projections, due to the the holiday today. The last time with a holiday weekend like this was in 2020 when cinemas were closed and before then it was in 2015, which is already 11 years agoand that weekend had much more cinema friendly weather, while this time temperatures are expected to go up to 28 degrees Celsius.

Hoever, thanks to some strong film, german movie theaters might be able to defy the summer weather for once, though.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is currently tracking to sell Ca. 607.5K tickets during the actual opening weekend and Ca. 750K tickets incl. wednesday previews. This film is currently expected to have the 2nd biggest opening weekend of the year and the 18th biggest opening weekend since the pandemic started.

As a comparison, the first film opened with 562.498 tickets and ended up with a total of 2.980.719 tickets.
