Hello all,
I’m a recent academy graduate and just applied to one of my local departments. I was asked to come in and help out with some promotional testing, and during the course of the day I was at the department, a firefighter collapsed due to a medical emergency.
Unfortunately, the firefighter passed away a few days later. Truly a tragic loss for our community and the department. Given the circumstances and the fact that I witnessed the event, I would like to pay my respects.
The department and surrounding departments are holding a procession tomorrow. I’d like to be there, however, given that I have applied to the department, I don’t want to come off rude. Is it in good taste to go? I didn’t know the individual personally, and definitely do not want to offend anyone. The procession will be going through town and past the station.
Thanks, and expressing my deepest sympathies to the department and the community for a very tragic loss.
