I’m not sure if this is true, but many documentaries claim that in Northern European countries, some of the happiest and most prosperous in the world, people are more prone to depression and suicidal thoughts, and that many of them are on antidepressants most of the time. Denmark and Sweden are often mentioned in this context.

This is sometimes explained by the idea that people in these countries tend to be more reserved and not used to sharing their problems with others. I’m not sure how accurate that is, I’m just mentioning it as an example. I hope people from Denmark and Sweden can correct me if I’m wrong.
