I currently work full-time in a corporate role outside of esthetics, and I earned my esthetician license last year. It’s difficult to walk away from my corporate job because the compensation is strong and it’s been my career for several years.

At the same time, I want to continue building my esthetics experience because my long-term goal is to transition out of corporate and open my own business.

I’m trying to find the best way to balance both. Ideally, I’d like to gain hands-on experience without compromising my financial stability. Do you think it’s realistic to find a weekend-only position at a med spa in NYC or NJ?

I’m hesitant to leave my full-time role due to high monthly expenses, and I’ve seen many discussions about low pay and difficult work environments in spas. Still, I know I need real experience to move forward. I’d appreciate any advice on the best path.
