Transferring Accounts to New Home with Crossover period.
We are in the process of buying a second hand home that will need some (not extensive) work done as soon as possible (some roof tiles and I want to upgrade the insulation).
We also have to serve a 54 day notice period in our current rented accommodation. The hope is to use some of that notice period to continue living in the rental property for a few more weeks while we get some of the work done (or at least started) before we move all our stuff over.
Obviously in theory on completion day you would usually switch your utility accounts etc on day 1 and take the current readings so that the meter starts on that day. However as we will have some level of crossover period we would still need electricity (for example) in both places. Is there some way to cover both for a short period that isn't crazy expensive or locking us into something long term.
