Has the RAM required for Fortnite STW increased in the past week?
My question is, have Fortnite STW RAM demands increased in the last week? I can no longer get STW to run at all, and the problem started all at once, well after the recent large upgrade by Epic.
Much too long version: About three days ago, I became unable to play Fortnite STW on my Windows 10 8GB RAM PC because it crashed in the initial lobby. By that I mean place where you pick what kind of Fortnite you want to play. The Fortnite error messages told me it was a memory problem. The exact type of memory problem kept changing. So I did a lot of things recommended online to reduce the RAM used by Fortnite and Easy Anti-Cheat and to reduce the RAM used by Chrome and background programs.
As a result of all that, I could get past the initial lobby and crash in the STW initial lobby, the new graphical one where you move around to different stations to get to the old STW menu. I am now preparing to buy and install more RAM, which appears to be the only solution.
Note 1 - By RAM, I mean the computer's RAM, not the video card. According to the Task Manager, that is not used near its limit at all.
Note 2 - The Task Manager says I am using about 36% of RAM with nothing on except the normal background stuff and the Task Manager. Turning on Chrome and opening a couple of tabs in it increases that to about 50%. Loading the initial lobby without Chrome running takes it to 85%
