So I’ve had pretty chronic lower back pain for the last 10 years due to a left tibia and fibula (leg) break and have been standing on my right leg (compensating) for the last 10 years so I have developed a pelvic tilt and uneven hips. This has caused extreme lower back pain. I have tried a lot of different methods to alleviate the pain… yoga, stretching, massage, cold plunge, sauna, PT, muscle relaxers, cupping, ice, heat, ibuprofen/advil, standing desk, different chairs, etc. I have also done CrossFit the last five years and last month at 38, I paused my membership because I just can’t do it anymore with the pain.

Fast forward… I started strength training, and doing Pilates, lots of RDLs, glute bridges, and exercises to get my glutes to engage again. But on Friday I saw a PT who dry needled my calves and for the first time in a decade, I didn’t have back pain. I don’t know how to explain it. I am so grateful. She said to roll out my calves everyday with a tennis ball or a massage gun and immorally do ten glute bridges for 3 rounds to inhibit the calves and wake up the glutes. I’m forever grateful. I had a tiny bit of pain today after playing two games of softball but overall I am praying these things will continue to bring me relief. Wishing you all luck and a life free of pain. Don’t give up!
