I’ve (46F) had my ferritin in single digits for at least the last 5 years…when the doctor started testing for it when I told her about my low energy, chest pain, etc. Sure enough my ferritin was 6 and the highest I’ve ever gotten it with supplements is 15 due to my acid reflux. I’ve been on PPI’s off and on for years and CANNOT take iron without food or I’m an absolute wreck. Stomach pain, reflux, etc and I’ve tried all the “gentle” ones that people have recommended here…absolutely not gentle for me.

Anyhow, after years of trying on my own and feeling like trash (my worst symptoms are not wanting to do anything ever. I play tennis and lift weights in the morning because I want to stay in shape, but then I’m done for the day. No energy or desire to do anything else. I’m just a depressed anxious shell of my former self).

So today I finally got my first iron infusion…300mg venofer and will have 2 more in the next two weeks. I’ll come back to report periodically how my symptoms have improved or not. As far as the infusion went; it was fantastic. Just chill in my comfy heated chair, did a little work, hung out with my son and relaxed. I didn’t have any side effects whatsoever other than maybe slightly lightheaded afterwards but that resolved quickly.

I wanted to share since I know it can be nerve racking and it’s good to hear positive stories!
