Are left-leaning political parties exploiting the Israeli apartheid purely for electoral gains?
A lot of the left-leaning parties across Europe and the United States do at some point have to express their views on Palestinians suffering at the hands of the Israeli state. Most of them publicly express that they are pro-Palestinian and that the atrocities committed by the IDF need to stop. Many advocate for Israel to be sanctioned, Benjamin Netanyahu to be arrested and tried, and for military cooperation with Israel to be stopped unconditionally.
However, most of them do not seem even have an ounce of pragmatic strategy when it comes to how they can actually help Palestinians. I can't help but think that all this political theatre is purely for electoral gains. The Left has very loyal voters in the youth, and the youth cares about human rights violations. Gaza is the most documented humans rights violation in history.
Left-leaning media and voters don't seem to understand what the consequences of sanctioning Israel and ending military cooperation with them will be on the sovereignty and security of their own countries. To actually help Palestinians will require deeper dialogue and compromise.
Which brings me to my question: is all this just political theatre?
