Like many of you, I have a deep connection to the show and to JorDan for many personal reasons. I still vividly remember watching the events of January 6th unfold, and how it sparked an interest in me in better understanding the resurgent authoritarianism in the US. My wife and I were living in NE, but we were discussing a move to Austin to help take care of an elderly family member. We moved later that year - a move that required me to give up my job and pause my growth in my dream career field. I felt lost and unmoored, and I stumbled upon KF (and to a lesser extent Dune haha) and the boys in the depths of that aimlessness. As I grew into my new life and reframed what it looked like, it was always accompanied by Dan’s sweet dulcet tones and what my wife lovingly described as Jordan’s “screeching”. I must have listened to the Formulaic Objection series 10 times over the last few years on road trips, filling out job applications, and doing work around the house. I’m so sad that they’ve decided to end the show, but I’m beyond grateful that it was part of my life for so long. It’s been a truly rare piece of media that I always looked forward to and never ignored. Loss and grief can only exist if something meaningful is no longer with us. It’s beautifully human and wonderful and it sucks. I’m restarting the show, and I hope Dan and Jordan get the rest they deserve.
