I need a reliable car to replace my old one and my budget is maximum 22000 dollars. I drive forty miles round trip daily mostly highway and want something with good fuel economy low maintenance costs and solid long term reliability.

I am considering compact sedans or small crossovers from Toyota Honda or Mazda but I am open to other strong choices too. Preferably something from 2019 or newer with reasonable mileage that can easily last another ten years.

What models should I focus on in this price range and which ones should I avoid? Any specific years or trims that offer the best value right now?
