1976 Hulk Honeycomb commercial - Scene 5 production cel and matching drawing

Original production cel of the boy holding a Post Honeycomb cereal box, matching production drawing, and separate mouth overlay used for lip-sync animation.

The production drawing shows the cereal box left blank, with the printed Honeycomb artwork added later on the finished cel.

Scene 7 from the 1976 Honeycomb Hideout commercial featuring The Incredible Hulk.

These original production drawings show the girl on the tire swing while holding the Honeycomb cereal box. The overlay drawings show adjustments to the pose, hand placement, and character movement during the animation process.

This fills in another piece of the production sequence leading up to the later scenes I have already posted.

At this time, I do not have any production artwork from Scenes 8 or 9. The next artwork currently documented resumes with Scene 10.

I’ll continue posting the scenes in order as I work through the collection and compare each piece to the original commercial.

I've been matching more of the production artwork back to the actual commercial frame by frame. These two drawings are both from Scene 10 and show different stages of the same Hulk shot.

One is much rougher with heavier construction lines, while the other is cleaned up. It's cool seeing the progression side by side 50 years later.

This is what I’ve got for Scene 11 from the Hulk Honeycomb commercial.

These are original production drawings from right before Scene 12 (the pouring setup).

One is the kid reacting, the other is Hulk’s hand coming down to grab the box. So this is basically the moment where it transitions from the kid having the cereal → Hulk taking over → leading into the pour.

I don’t have a cel from this exact scene, but these line up with the action right before my Scene 12 multi-layer cel.

Trying to map the commercial out piece by piece as I go.

This is my only representation from Scene 12.

What makes this one interesting is it’s a multi-layer production setup

Hulk body and bowl cutout, arm holding the Honeycomb box with cereal pouring and the mouth overlay.

The background is a repro based on the original layout drawing, used for display.

This is part of the larger group I’ve been documenting from the commercial.

Scene 13 from the 1976 Hulk Honeycomb commercial.

Original hand-painted production cel with the matching production drawing, plus additional hand drawings from the same sequence.

Cel and drawing match exactly — same pose, same frame.

Part of a larger group I’ve been putting together from the commercial.

Scene 14 from a 1976 Honeycomb Hulk commercial.

These are original drawings showing how the hand movement was figured out before the final cel where he catches the box.

I thought it was interesting to see the step-by-step progression from rough sketches to the finished frame.
