I have a Chrome extension currently pending review on the Chrome Web Store. The extension uses the gmail.send OAuth scope (sensitive scope) with a Chrome Extension type OAuth client in Google Cloud Console. The GCP OAuth app is currently in testing mode and not yet verified.
My questions:
- Can CWS approve a Chrome extension while the GCP OAuth app is still unverified / in testing mode? Or is OAuth verification a prerequisite for CWS approval?
- If we change the app mode to publish ( not verified yet ), then during CWS review, will reviewers encounter the "unverified app" warning screen when testing the Google Sign-In flow? If so, does this cause an automatic rejection?
[ Note: The official docs state OAuth verification requires "a registered item in the Chrome Web Store Developer Dashboard" — my extension is registered but not yet published ]
Any experience or official references would be appreciated.
