PSA: tvOS 26.5 has fixed long standing Atmos issues with LG OLEDs and the Apple TV 4K first gen (2017)

Since tvOS 26.2, my LG OLED C4 stopped receiving and processing Atmos streams correctly from my first generation Apple TV 4K.

Trough its internal speakers, the tv stopped showing the Atmos badge when playing Atmos content, and, much more importantly, it also stopped passing trough the Atmos metadata to a Sonos ARC ultra soundbar. Mind you, the Apple TV still recognized my audio hardware as Atmos capable within it sound settings, but Atmos streams simply failed to engage when initiating playback.

Subsequent firmware updates of the TV didnt fixed this. tvOS 26.3 and 26.4 didnt fixed it, but tvOS 26.5, to which I updated to this morning, finally did.

Strange bug.

IOS 26.5 seems to be a performance focused update. Do you think it will be the same for the Homepods and the Apple TV?

Tried the second release candidate at a friend house this morning, and boy, it is smooth. No dropped frames, no UI glitches, there is a real improvement.

Considering how glitchy, unpolished and buggy IOS 26 has been since 26.0, this was a welcome surprise.

I hope the same level of refinement applies to tvOS 26 for the Homepods and the Apple TV, specially if the rumors are true and IOS 27 will drop support for a few devices.
