Struggling To Sleep? This Simple Night Routine Changed Everything

I used to struggle with falling asleep every night, so I created a simple sleep journal and bedtime checklist that really helped me calm my mind before bed 😴

One thing that helped me:
✔️ Writing down anxious thoughts before sleep
✔️ No phone 30 mins before bed
✔️ A consistent night routine

What helps you sleep better?

the worst part of insomnia is being exhausted but mentally awake

this honestly explained my insomnia better than most sleep advice i’ve seen 😭

not gonna lie i used to think insomnia was just “not being able to fall asleep” but after dealing with it for so long i realized the worst part is what happens mentally once bedtime comes around

all day i’m exhausted barely functioning wanting nothing more than sleep then somehow the second i get into bed my brain suddenly decides it’s time to replay embarrassing memories overthink life and stress about tomorrow

and then you start checking the clock every hour getting frustrated because you’re STILL awake which somehow makes your brain even more alert

what finally helped me a little was understanding that the pressure to sleep was becoming part of the problem

like the harder i tried to force sleep the worse it got

a while ago i made a small free guide with the few things that actually helped calm my brain down at night

if anyone wants it just dm me 🤍

not even gonna lie this is probably the first time i’ve read something about insomnia that actually made me feel understood because most sleep advice online just tells you to avoid caffeine or put your phone away but this article explained why some people become exhausted all day yet suddenly fully awake the second they try to sleep and honestly the whole “your brain starts treating bedtime like stress instead of rest” part hit way too hard 😭

it also explains why trying harder to sleep usually makes everything worse which is exactly what kept happening to me every night

if anyone else here feels stuck in that tired but wired cycle i genuinely think this is worth reading

if anyone wants it i can send it

not even gonna lie insomnia has been messing me up way more than i thought it would

for the longest time every single night felt exactly the same

i’d be exhausted all day barely functioning then suddenly the second i got in bed my brain would decide it’s the perfect time to replay every awkward moment and every problem in my life 😭

and after a while it starts messing with you mentally too

you stop feeling normal

you get irritated over dumb stuff

you can’t focus properly

even texting people back starts feeling exhausting

i tried melatonin magnesium staying off my phone before bed all that stuff people always recommend

some of it helped a little i guess but the overthinking never really stopped

then a few weeks ago i randomly came across an article talking about the whole “tired but wired” thing and honestly it described me perfectly

especially the part about your brain basically treating bedtime like stress instead of rest

idk but just understanding what was happening made me freak out less every night and weirdly that alone started helping a bit

kinda wondering if anyone else here relates to this

I don’t usually post stuff like this but insomnia honestly started messing with my life way more than I expected

You spend the whole day tired af thinking “tonight I’ll finally sleep early” then the second your head touches the pillow your brain suddenly wants to think about every problem in existence 😭

For me it wasn’t even just not sleeping it was the anxiety around sleep itself the pressure the overthinking checking the time every hour

What helped me the most was realizing that forcing sleep actually makes it worse

Recently I put together a small free guide with the few things that genuinely helped calm my mind at night

Nothing medical nothing for sale just simple things that made nights feel less heavy

If anyone wants it just dm me 🤍

Does anyone else feel exhausted all day but suddenly wide awake the second they try to sleep?
