Original release Frog, rebuilt with bling

I got this vintage Frog from a relative, and I gave it a ton of love and care. It looks nice but so far it runs like garbage, I need to solve some problems with steering and the ball diff. I really enjoyed the total stripping down of it to make it new again. Cheapo light kit with attack lights.

Speed gear pinion mesh problem

I have a TT-02b and it came with the 17t pinion. It ran really well in the stock setup. I got the speed gear hop-up, which gives you a 68t spur gear, but the chart shows that you can’t use a 17t pinion gear. So I bought a tamiya 2-pack of 18t and 19t pinion gears.
According to the chart, I should be able to use the position “b” on the motor mount when using the 19t pinion. But the gearing mesh is awful, they barely touch and it chatters horribly. Anyone experienced this with a solution?

Super Sabre with lights

I finished my custom light setup for my Super Sabre. It’s a pretty nice buggy.

My craftsman drill needed new batteries so I bought the one on the left. It is NiMH. The charger on the right doesn’t say NiMH. However replacement chargers on ebay also list NiMH while the pictures show the same Li-ion and Ni-Cd. What gives? Is it compatible or not?

I wanted to try some new techniques for Lexan, so I made stencils for words and pictures. I also tried the dish soap trick. Partly a failure but might look cool.

I’ve been upgrading this original vintage Frog that I got from a family member. I disassembled the front steering to clean it, and discovered that the chassis is really toast. White stress along with an actual crack. So now it has changed from “just adding some hop-ups” to a total rebuild and buying new chassis parts. A slight setback but it explains why it could never drive straight no matter what I did.
