Why is every other post on r/SouthernIndia about Kerala or Muslims?
At this point nearly 60% of the sub feels like anti-Kerala and anti-Muslim ragebait. Normal post-election celebrations are framed like “terrorist victory marches,” every Muslim gathering becomes a national security discussion, and every election result where BJP loses is treated as proof that Kerala is “finished.” IUML has been part of Kerala politics and coalition cabinets for decades and the state did not suddenly collapse because of it. Kerala still continues to rank high in literacy, healthcare, HDI and quality-of-life indicators despite the constant fearmongering. People keep asking “why Kerala won’t vote BJP” without explaining what exactly BJP is supposedly bringing to Kerala that people here are desperately missing already. And if BJP-ruled states are apparently the ideal model, then why are those states never scrutinized with the same obsession while every issue in Kerala becomes “evidence” of collapse?
What makes this even funnier is that many of these “organic” narratives don’t even feel organic anymore. The same ecosystem openly runs interconnected RW communities, Discord groups, recruitment channels for “promising contributors,” and coordinated posting circles across multiple subreddits. So when the same accounts repeatedly push communal panic, anti-Kerala narratives and identical talking points across different platforms, people are obviously going to question whether this is genuine discussion or just organized agenda posting disguised as regional discourse. The sub was supposed to be about South India, but lately it feels more like a Kerala doomposting and communal outrage factory with occasional actual South Indian content in between.
