Hey everyone,
I’m prior service Army (11B E5) and currently transitioning out, looking to get into law enforcement. I recently went through my first formal oral board interview in over 10 years with a department in California and wasn’t selected to move forward.
I’m not discouraged, just looking to improve. I’m trying to figure out what separates candidates who pass from those who don’t, especially in terms of communication and how answers are structured.
For those of you who have been on hiring panels or gone through the process:
• What are the biggest mistakes you see candidates make?
• What makes someone stand out in an oral board?
• Any advice on structuring answers or improving delivery?
I’d appreciate any insight. Thanks in advance.
