I’ve been diagnosed with IBS-D for about 6 years (im 22M now) and have had the whole mix of symptoms throughout the years - nothing ive tried (almost all UK available options) has got me anywhere close to normality, and im already under the care of a nhs gastro consultant.
My current problem is that im going over 10/15 times each day, often in quick succession (minutes), most of the time it is weirdly like large balls/type 2 stool (which im aware indicates constipation but the urgency and frequency of D is there) - this is whats stumping me, theres very little stories of this i come across online
The volume of stool i produce overall is about 5x more than i should be for someone my weight and what i eat so i dont know where its coming from - what could be causing hyperdefecation?
My body is capable of producing normal type 3/4 stools as it does this right before im getting a flare up (then i have 2 days of mostly type 5 diarrhea all day)
I dont really get any other symptoms now besides severe burping.
Im currently on ondansetron to try and help, it did have an effect for about 2 weeks but has faded, im aware this can cause constipation, the same as loperamide but neither of these has really had much of an effect on my stool - if i was to come off it tho then id get rebound diarrhea which i cant risk again as i have to work.
I drink a few litres of water daily, get enough fibre, dont drink or smoke and get regular excercise so overall pretty healthy besides my bowel habits. (Ive had all tests such as colonoscopy and bloods, sibo etc)
Currently gone gluten free for a week but this hasnt really changed much, so Ive decided to also test fybogel again, however I doubt this would reduce the overall amount of stool
Any advice on something i could try or what could be causing this would be great as im really struggling to live like this?
Thank you so much
