Lore:

The axe, a symbol of Ares, the god of war, shines with the moonlight, a symbol of the goddess Artemis.

The double-edged axe, known as pelekus in ancient Greek and later as labrys in Rome and English-speaking countries, is said to have played a symbolic role in the Minoan civilization of Crete, and was even used as a motif on currency in some parts of ancient Greece. A Roman text from around the 2nd century AD recounts that Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons, also used a double-edged axe.

The same text records that Hercules, after defeating Hippolyta, confiscated her axe and gave it to Queen Omphale, with whom he had a connection, and that the axe protected the queen for a long time.

Why did Hercules bring out that double-edged axe, and why did he give it to Omphale? The reasons are something only a great hero, not in a berserker state, could understand.

But upon hearing this, Hippolyta smiled quietly.

"I won't ask why that axe took such a journey.

What matters is the result. If it continued to protect someone, even in a distant land, then that's enough."

"That axe should be wielded not with a scorching brilliance, but with the soft glow of moonlight illuminating the darkness."

"That's why I'm so happy to be able to wield this axe under my Master. It's not because Lady Artemis is at Chaldea, you know? It's because I believe that your steps are the moonlight that brings comfort to those who walk through the dark night."
