I started in January teaching business and very quickly became a very high demand tutor. 400+ lessons since Jan 27 of this year all 5 star ratings, never made super tutor because of their idiotic analytics. I hate the calendar I hate that I have to block time off on their app and then make time on my personal calendar. I hate that if I am sick I get penalized essentially. Their white board is horrible. There is a reason I am ranked where I am but this takes over my life. If I don’t block time off to eat I get booked. I have never taught before so apparently I am good at it.
That being said 1) I think it’s nonsense I can’t make super tutor over students booking trial not booking lessons and cancellations. 2) I just had a student tell me he wanted to book me for two weeks for finals had one lesson with me then cancelled and said he doesn’t have time. And I have no recourse for any of the prep I did. They’re good for marketing but I can’t even market for all business subjects.
They don’t care about tutors that’s what I have learned. I really enjoy working with the students though but where do I go from here. I’m gonna die if I keep this platform up. I am at $40 an hour working I dunno how many hours a day. Preply doesn’t give a crap about us. The calendar feature alone makes me want to get off the site. The metrics are a joke. But I want to keep tutoring and teaching. I like it.
Any high performing tutors leave Preply and if so what did you do and how did you get students.
I’m seriously gonna burn out soon.
