Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out from Poland. I am likely the first VinFast owner here, which means I have zero official service support. I own two US-spec VinFast VF8 Plus models. One of them was running perfectly for over 3,000 km until a recent cold snap (-10°C / 14°F).
The Incident: To maintain the 12V battery during the cold, I connected an external charger overnight. The next morning, the car was a "Christmas tree" of lights and entered Limp Mode (Turtle icon).
Current Symptoms:
- Limp Mode is active. RBS (Regenerative Braking System) error is displayed.
- Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) are disabled.
- Driving behavior: If I lift off the accelerator, regen feels normal. However, the moment I touch the brake pedal, I feel a strange "push/jolt" from the rear motor. This often causes the drive system to disconnect entirely.
- Recovery: To get back into Gear (D), I have to power off the car, step out for a few minutes, and restart.
- Workaround: If I disable Regenerative Braking manually before driving, the car moves without the "jolt," but it remains in Limp Mode.
Diagnostics (Autel Scanner via VF34 profile): I have two permanent (Current) DTCs:
- U016087 - Lost Communication with Central Gateway Module (XGW).
- P111019 - Coolant System Performance.
What I have access to:
- I have a second, identical VF8 Plus (donor car), but I am terrified of swapping modules (like the XGW) and potentially bricking both cars or causing VIN mismatch issues.
- I have a contact in Vietnam who provides me with OTP codes to enter Engineering Mode on the main screen. However, once inside, I’m not sure which specific procedure can reset these gateway/communication flags.
My Questions:
- Has anyone seen a "frozen" Gateway (XGW) caused by a 12V charging spike?
- Is there a specific fuse or a "hard reset" procedure for the XGW module?
- Inside Engineering Mode, is there a way to force-clear these permanent communication codes or re-initialize the Gateway?
- Does the P111019 (Coolant) error sound like a secondary fault caused by the Gateway being down?
I am desperate to get this car back on the road. Any technical documentation, fuse diagrams, or Engineering Mode tips would be life-saving.
Thank you in advance! Damian
