I mistakenly purchased asafoetida lump instead of buying it in powder form which is how I normally use it. How do I use this lump? It is not brittle that I can just add to a mixer and grind it. It is more like super super hard clay. The other ingredients are Gum Arabic, Wheat Starch, Asafoetida, and traces of sunflower oil. This is from L.G. brand. Any suggestions on how this is used?

Will be attending a birthday party this weekend and want to gift something that is not a toy. Almost everyone will be bringing a toy and I don't want to add to it. I have considered clothes but what are some other things? Any consumables that come to mind?
