Hi all. I know someone knows this because I believe the song was a hit in the 80s or latest very early 90s.

It’s a medium tempo song with a guitar lick that sounds like the Vocaroo. The guitar lick is repeated in the entire song almost.

EDIT: better Vocaroo with my snapping as the drum and tempo

EDIT: The guitar has a jangly type sound but I don’t think it’s from a jangle pop/ rock band. I could be way off here but it reminds me of some type of alternative indie band from the late 80s, OR it also could be some funky different sound from some already famous band or artist. I know that doesn’t help much, but the sound in the recording was crisp and well produced. Not garage or grainy.
The guitar part is almost the main focus of the song. Similar to Need You Tonight by INXS where the song is built around the lick. The bass matches it too. The only difference between that and INXS is I think the guitar lick goes through the whole song or at least most of it.

Thanks in advance !!!

Hi there, Upstaters!

I'm working on a new, audio-only, podcast-type project where I interview anyone who witnessed MTV's launch at midnight on 8/1/81 (or at least acquired MTV within the first few weeks/months - no later than December 1981).

Based on my research, Upstate NY (along with NJ and the greater tri-state area), contained some of the most households to witness early MTV.

Early MTV has been a personal passion of mine for close to 20 years, and hearing your experiences would be a delight.

(There are a lot of videos of 8/1/81 on YouTube, and some broadcasts from Nov. 1981, but there's a dearth of information that I, and surely other fans, would love to know. Reading Reddit entries can be fun too, but my aim with this project is to dive deeper into people's experiences, music tastes, and the early MTV musical landscape in general.)

If you or anyone you know are interested in this project, please feel free to reply below and let me know if I may direct message you to provide more information. You may also complete my very brief GoogleForm survey here: https://forms.gle/W5fWgEJpjAcdKX8S9

Be well, all!
