I’ve asked this question to my LC and am awaiting a response but wanted to pick the amazing mom brains from this community as well!
The last few nights, my 8 week old LO would nurse fine for the first session (usually around 12am and she is very sleepy), but not for the second one around 3-4am. She would nurse less than 10 minutes on one breast and cries nonstop while refusing the second breast (no consistency as to which breast). I’m not sure if it’s gas because she wouldn’t release any gas by the time she settles and sleeps at this end of all this.
Previous nights, I just calm her and put her down after only nursing less than 10 mins on one side, but then she’d wake up in less than an hour, so I’d really prefer she have a full feeding before going back to sleep. Tonight I tried to give her a bottle after she was refusing the second breast and she drank about 2 ounces from the bottle.
Does this mean she’s starting to refuse the breast or is something else going on?
For context, she has also become fussier in the last couple of weeks and needs to be held/rocked to sleep where that wasn’t the case when she was a NB. This usually happens in tandem with the breast refusal.
Has this happened to anyone else?!
