Squirtle the no eyed dog
This is really just to show off my dog so I hope it’s okay to post. Squirtle was dumped on our property just before Christmas covered in mats and with one eye sunken in due to unknown trauma and her other eye protruding.
We reached out to a few rescues in the area but none of them were able to take her in so we ended up getting her a vet appointment and assessing the damage (to her and potentially our pocket book). She needed a double eye enucleation, to be spayed, and of course a grooming appointment. We took care of all of that and made her an official member of the family.
She was a very costly little thing for being a free dog due to the surgeries but oh well. Our bank account has replenished and thankfully the best vet in our area happens to also be the most budget friendly one. 6 months later and you wouldn’t be able to even tell she is blind other than she will climb on things but refuses to jump off them.
The vet thinks that she isn’t even two years old and is confident calling her a schnauzer but we have her listed as a mix just because we aren’t 100% sure. Some pictures of her freshly dumped, shortly after surgery, and recently on our spring break trip she joined us on.
