Don't put dirty dishes in the sink?
So my (28) roommates (21) have asked me to not to put dishes with food scraps on it into the sink. They say it's because it makes the sink all gunky (they don't like cleaning out the trap) and it's flows out onto other dishes when they turn on the water.
Instead if I have anything that has scraps or I want to soak I should leave on the kitchen table (I have cats and it's a tall narrow table so this makes me nervous). The thing is I wash food off in the sink and then clean out the trap when I can access it (and I know I'm the only one who cleans it out) The dishwasher is almost always 50% full and they never say if it's clean or not (one of them runs all the time half empty and never let's anyone know if it's clean or not) so the sink is almost always full with someone's dishes, making it difficult to use the sink or clean the trap.
I'm frustrated because they really seem to have this mindset of only clean my personal mess (not helping with general household cleaning, only putting away their dishes rsther than everything that they know where it goes) and even then they don't clean up after themselves well or consistently, just complain when I do/ don't do something. The thing is I'm not even that clean of a person, I keep common areas nice and do regularly cleaning but I mess up so I'm pretty forgiving of messy roommates but it feel like they've decided that because they rarely use the main areas they don't need to help clean them.
I'm getting frustrated and off topic, but is this a common mindset? I know everyone does their dishes differently but if I were to leave any dishes out of the sink it would be the mostly clean ones.
