I’m noticing a rattling noise coming from my 2016 Opel/Vauxhall Insignia 1.6 CDTI [97,000 km (approx. 60,000 miles)] Manual Transmission. It sounds like a typical timing chain issue.
The noise is most prominent shortly after driving off, especially while accelerating in 2nd gear and upwards. I’ve also experienced the rattle twice during a cold start, though it only lasted for a brief moment.
I know these engines are notorious for the missing timing chain tensioner gasket, as they weren't even installed from the factory, causing the tensioner to lose oil pressure. Given these symptoms, do you think the chain is already stretched, or could it just be the tensioner failing to hold pressure?
