Fitnexa Somnipods3 Automode Tips From My Experience
I’ve been trying to take sleep tracking more seriously lately, and the tracking feature on the Somnipods3 has actually been really useful for me. In my experience, it’s been fairly accurate too.
The problem is that sleep tracking doesn’t work in Bluetooth mode. Tracking is tied to Sleep Mode, which honestly makes sense, but it also means that anytime I fall asleep listening to a podcast or music over Bluetooth, I end up with no sleep data for that night.
What ended up working best for me was using Automode.
During the process of falling asleep, the earbuds stay in Bluetooth mode so I can keep listening to podcasts or videos. Once the sensors detect that I’ve fallen asleep, they automatically switch over to Sleep Mode and sleep tracking starts from that point.
One thing to know though: after the switch, audio playback changes to the built in sound library. I’m pretty sensitive to sound while sleeping, so I actually set mine to stop audio playback completely after the switch, and that works perfectly for me. But if you need continuous audio all night long, Automode might not be ideal.
For people who want audio playing through the night, Bluetooth mode battery life is honestly much better than I expected. There’s a timer in the app that lets you automatically turn off ANC after 2 to 3 hours, and you can separately set a timer for audio playback too. Since the two settings are independent, you can mix and match based on your own preferences.
I also really like that the app estimates battery life based on your specific settings combination, and in my experience the estimates have been surprisingly accurate. I’ve tested it a few times and the battery easily lasts through the night.
The only tradeoff is losing sleep tracking data in Bluetooth mode. For me that’s a pretty big downside, although I know a lot of people probably won’t care.
One feature I genuinely hope they add in the future is delayed sleep tracking while staying in Bluetooth mode, something like “start sleep tracking automatically after 2 hours.” By then I’m usually already asleep anyway. If they added that option, Bluetooth mode would honestly feel almost perfect for my use case.
