I’m a non-EU student in Italy and I’m quite stressed about my permesso situation. I wanted to ask if anyone has been through something similar.
I applied for the renewal of my permesso di soggiorno per studio in September 2025 and did my fingerprints on December 2025. After that, I didn’t receive any update for a long time, and the status was not showing properly online.
At the end of February I went to the Questura and they told me there was a problem with my housing document. I brought the updated document in the beginning March 2026. Then I went again at the end of March, and they again mentioned the same issue. I explained that I had already submitted the new document. The officer looked at it, clicked something in the system, and told me something like that it had been checked in the system.
The problem is that I graduated from my Master’s recently, and I still haven’t received the renewed student permesso card. I’m worried that when I finally receive it, it may already be expired or almost expired.
My questions are:
- If the renewed student permesso arrives already expired because of Questura delays, can I still apply for permesso per ricerca lavoro / imprenditorialità degli studenti?
- Can I register with the Centro per l’Impiego / DID using only the ricevuta of the renewal, the expired/old permesso, passport, and proof of graduation?
- Has anyone successfully applied for ricerca lavoro after delays in the student permesso renewal?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who had a similar experience.
