I’m trying to paint a pair of air Jordan 1’s but I’ve noticed once I apply about 2 thin layers of paint, the natural texture of the leather is no longer visible and it becomes obviously a custom job. How do all these customisers completely change the colour of a shoe while maintaining the visibility of the leather texture? I’m thinking of getting a high end air brush if it’ll help. Incase it helps this is my application method: prep the shoe with acetone, paint a very thin layer, dry it with heat gun around 100c then do a second layer and let it dry. I haven’t gone past a second layer because it starts to look thickish. I’m a fckn noob any advise would help.

Update

So it seems as the paint has settled and probably dried fully now, some of the texture of the leather has become visible again but not fully so my question still stands
