Hi everyone,

I have around 3.6 yoe working as an SDE at a fairly well known product company (recently got a lot of attention for layoffs). Recently there has been an increasing pressure from managers to use AI into our work, also asking for contionous feedback on the ai usage from leadership

Given the current situation, it honestly feels like another wave of layoffs could happen, and I want to be prepared.

My background:

- strong in java + spring boot

- experience with AWS/cloud

But I’m starting to feel like just DSA and system design isn’t enough anymore.

I’m considering transitioning towards AI/ML roles or something related to an 'AI Engineer' tag, hopefully to stay relevant

What I’m confused about:

- what exact skills should I focus on to stay relevant?

- is moving towards AI engineer roles realistic with my background?

-should I go deep into ML fundamentals?

-what kind of projects would actually help?

Thanks in advance :)
