I teach 6th grade geography, in a title one school. We have 12 school days left including today. Both our English and science teacher are out today. One was supposed to have sub, and one was covers from another grade. I am a 26 year old male, this is my 3rd year teaching. Every single time over the last two years when we have a substitute I tell my kids that it is very important that they behave and what the outcome will be if they do not. This morning we had the announcements and then I went over to the class to give them the same spiel I normally do. This substitute has been at our school a couple of times and with out fail she doesn’t do anything she is supposed to. She will let the kids sit wherever then want, do whatever they want, and most of the time she doesn’t even give the kids their assignment for the day. She will just huddle up with a few kids and just talk while the other kids are left alone to do whatever. I told my home room that they need to behave how they normally would if their actual teacher was in the class. I told them this substitute is really nice and she will probably let you guys do things you know are not allowed. Well my kids went into the class next and told her that I said “she is too nice and lets them do whatever they want”. I told her that’s not what I said and that I’m only trying to help her. She went and told another teacher who isn’t on our team that she wants to talk to the principal (our principal is busy) so she calls the office and tells them she is leaving. She is crying and cussing on her way out (crashing out is what my kids told me). I do feel bad that I made her feel that way. I just wish she would just make them do whatever they are supposed to. Anyways this all happened not even 45 minutes into the school day lol!

I’m not really needing any advice but just wanted to share my frustration lol
