I damaged a borrowed company laptop and never reported it

Two years ago my workplace lent me a laptop for a project. One night I accidentally dropped it while rushing but instead of reporting the damage I hid the cracks and continued using it carefully. The screen issues worsened over time affecting performance and eventually the device had to be replaced at company expense. I never admitted my role and no one suspected me.

This mistake still weighs on me heavily because my silence cost the company money and I betrayed their trust. I deeply regret hiding what happened instead of owning up immediately. The guilt from this secret follows me even now.
