Does Golden State Have the Contracts to Trade for Kawhi?
A good portion of this sub seems convinced that Kawhi is as good gone to the Warriors, but I just don't see it. The most obvious trade pieces, contract wise is Steph (Warriors wouldn't do in a billion years) and Jimmy (I pray the front office isn't stupid enough to do this). So, without those two contracts the Warriors would have to make it up in aggregate.
Even if they traded every single player they have under contract that isn't Steph, Jimmy, and Draymond, they are still $15m short. Yes, they can bring in a third team, but that seems like a huge shortfall to actually make up and assuming people want their roster.
I just think it is highly unlikely it happens and Kawhi will go to South Beach, which Riley refused to push all his chips in for Lillard so it seems unlikely, or somewhere colder.
