If I book the flights above connecting trough LAX both ways which outbound would be on Air Tahiti return on Fiji Air price average most times in business is over 2X higher than if I just book the LAX - PPT and NAN - LAX segments. Originating in ORD is $10K+ a ticket originating in LAX it is about $5K

I don't understand the massive difference. Obviously I can book a relatively inexpensive flight ORD-LAX then LAX-ORD but then I am dealing with the whole separate ticket connections mess if AA won't link the 2. Any thoughts? The trip is not until April 2027 so have plenty of time but I am really confused by pricing. I am an AA million miler and never seen anything like it.
