The Modern Family Cookbook, Meta Given, 1943. This copy originally belonged to my husband’s grandmother. It survived a fire that destroyed my husband’s and his parents’ home when he was a child, which is where the scorch marks come from. It’s full of recipes that Granny put into it to save, including many in her own handwriting. My father-in-law gifted it to me, and it’s one of the most precious items in our home. I don’t open it very often because it’s so fragile, but I thought this sub would like to see it.

Some friends of mine offered me this Sunbeam Mixmaster. They told me that it’s a model made between 1948 and 1950. It doesn’t have any accessories besides the beaters, and it needs servicing, which is all fine with me, it’s a beauty, and I’m excited to have it!

My question is, approximately what is it worth? I asked how much they wanted for it, and they said whatever I think is fair, and I want to make sure I do give them a fair amount for it. Thanks in advance!

This is one of my favorite pieces, but I don’t actually know much about it (I mostly collect smaller items, but ran across this several years ago, and couldn’t pass it up!). I believe it’s mid-century.
