Older cat forgetting how to use catflap now that younger cat does

Has anyone had this issue, and if so how did you overcome it?

Context: My older cat has been using the catflap for about a year with no issues.

I recently taught my kitten to use it, but since then the older one has started getting confused about using it. She’ll paw at it and scratch at it, and when I try poking it open for her she either gets annoyed at me or just sits and looks out it but doesn’t go through.

Is it a scent thing? That it no longer just smells of her? And if so does anyone have advice on how to help her get over it?

They’re not the best of friends but have been integrated together now for about ten months so they know each others scents.

TMI ahead…

I’ve been slowly titrating down over the past four or five months and have been on 5mg for a couple of weeks now, but during that time I’ve noticed I’ve been regularly getting stomach pain and diarrhoea in the evenings, not long after dinner.

I’ve not been eating anything different than I was, and it’s mostly been chicken, salads, fish cakes every now and again, nothing I’d expect to be setting my stomach off.

I did wonder whether it’s just my old GERD acting up. Haven’t had issues with it at all since starting MJ, so maybe now that I’m back on a lower dose it’s rearing its ugly head once more?

Anyone experienced something similar?
