▲ 18 r/ostomy

Hello to all the lovely and helpful people here. You have been such an amazing resource. Thank you!
My sweet non-verbal son has had his ileostomy for about a year and we've worked out almost all the issues. But, we have to get up once in the night, usually 4am because his bag is full-ish of air and some output. ( Not enough output that it needs emptying, but with the air in there...I am worried he will roll over on it and burst it. ) We try not to wake him up all the way, just open the velcro a bit and let the air out and hope he goes back into fully asleep. But the interrupted sleep is so hard on us and hard on him. What kind of set up could we use so that we can both sleep through the night? We're new to this so I am not sure if this is a solvable problem or not.

**We cannot limit eating in the evening or change what he eats since he has eating issues and has always been underweight. We need every last calorie he is willing to consume. ( All he eats are the same 3 things anyway-- potatoes, whole milk and Fritos chips plus many vitamin supplements.)

**We use the most basic holister 2 piece, drainable with a velcro closure. He doesn't have a ton of output in general because he doesn't eat much. It is fairly liquidy, not solid, not pasty if that matters.
