AmScope B270 or 490T
About to spend my 5th anniversary with my wonderful boyfriend at a cabin on a lake near Yosemite! My plan is to buy him something he’s been talking about for years—a microscope. His father, who passed when he was young, was a biologist and I think it would be such a great gift for him!! He himself is just a hobbyist (or soon to be hobbyist!) and I’m totally at a loss myself in what makes a good model.
I know this question gets asked a lot, so I do apologize but hopefully my inquiry comes as a bit more pointed! I want a microscope that can be customized with a darkfield (or comes with one) and we won’t be using anything more than just an iPhone to record anything, so a dedicated Trinocular lens doesn’t seem super necessary unless it’s a great deal. At the moment I am stuck between the Amscope B270 or the Amscope 490T! Or actually the T340 looks great! Open to other suggestions but this is kind of just where I’ve started. Thank you!!
