Extreme constipation/potential nerve damage with 1st HSV2 outbreak

I was diagnosed beginning of this month, had my first outbreak and am likely still in it, (infected on 02/04/2026, today is 19/04/2026) pretty much all symptoms have resolved except some mild sensitivity in my genital region. The worst part of it all is the severe constipation and inability to go on my own without laxatives, this has been happening for about 2 weeks so far and based on what Ive read can be ongoing for up to 6/7 weeks or permanent based on reading the Yale study. I just want to know if this gets better. Taking fibre supplements and mild daily laxatives do absolutely nothing, upping my fluid intake has done nothing but made me have to pee all the time and I require stimulant laxatives for anything to happen, it’s like digestion fully stalls when it hits my colon and I get constipated for days on end. I am taking Valtrex currently still and will be for suppression purposes for the foreseeable future as I am a very high stress person and the affects of this disease make it very hard for me to do my job during a full outbreak. I will be having another appointment with my GP soon. Please tell me this gets better. Please tell me it resolves. PLEASE.

Edit to add I’m currently taking 2000mg of Valtrex daily
