Jane M Bolin—Today! A Celebration of Diversity in American Law

(Judge) Jane Bolin Day (hereafter referred to as JBD) is named after Judge Jane Bolin,
a Poughkeepsie native, a trailblazer in American law, and a lifelong, humble advocate
for justice and equality. This event aims to honor Judge Bolin by increasing the
community’s understanding of her life and professional legacy and by offering
attendees opportunities to learn more about and support the same democratic issues
she championed. Additionally, the event explores contemporary diversity in the law,
centering on the experiences and achievements of current legal professionals, and why
and how diversity continues to be a requirement for a healthier multiracial U.S.
democracy and equal justice under law.
JBD will be offered annually, and we thank you for joining us in our program’s
inaugural year (4/11/26)! We appreciate your interest in celebrating the life and legacy
of Judge Bolin in both the Hudson Valley and beyond, as well as contemporary
diversity in American law. While JBD program formats and activities may shift from
year to year, the programs will always strive to offer an intellectually stimulating
environment conducive to learning for all, opportunities for community engagement
and collaboration, and a call to action.
We hope that everyone present learns something new, makes a community
connection, and is inspired to support diversity in their own sphere of influence and
power.
In solidarity and in community,
Dr. Taneisha Means Davis, on behalf of the BDC
