Climbing Nevis in 2 days and my buddy forgot to bring my crampons. Has anyone been up in the past couple days and can confirm if I need to buy a pair?

Rest of my kit is fine, just not sure if I need to spend any more money this week. 🤣 If I really do need some I'll try and rent a pair.

Never done Ben Nevis before so not sure what to expect.

About to start a new role: £132k base + £17k RSU + 2 to 6 months pay bonus.

39 years old. Single earning household (partner is studying).

Was gonna stick as much as possible into my pension but I really need to build up our emergency fund again (got destroyed recently with an emergency 🤣)

Salary calculator suggests I'll get a monthly take home of £6800 with base pay which will allow me to save £3000 a month based on current outgoings.

Should I continue to split that across the emergency fund, Lisa, ISA then just put my RSU + bonus into pension?

Appreciate that will stick me in the tax trap but we'd like to do some work on the house at the end of this tax year too, locking all that away in my pension will make it hard to do that AND build up my emergency fund... Plus I really need a holiday 🤣

Appreciate any insight from others in this position.

Hi all! Been told we can't extend to the side due to planning regulations which is really frustrating.

So we're contemplating an extension into our garden, both downstairs, upstairs and a potential dormer loft extension as we have a good interior layout to add more stairs.

Has anyone had experience doing so on a property like this?

EDIT: to clarify, both builder and architect have said extension isn't viable and shared documentation from regulations. Basically our neighbours house is rotated 90 degrees so all their main living windows face our side, there's a minimum distance we need to be from their windows and we're already within that without the extensions.

Tldr: bs building regs that weren't around in the 60s
