It was part guidebook and also part survival stories. I think it may have been from the 1980s or 1990s.
I remember it talked about a worm omelette being way more delicious than a Big Mac when you're in the jungle.
It had:
A story about Juliane Koepcke (woman that survived a fall from airplane)
A story about this elderly couple in a caravan, one of them had a broken leg
A story about someone that survived on dinghy and ate raw fish they caught
