First time poster here and wanted to run this by some people who may have encountered this before.
I work at a company where we ship large numbers of lithium ion battery modules that are populated in battery cabinets (UN3481) and occasionally battery modules that are individually packaged and strapped on pallets(UN3480). This is all domestic OTR shipping in the US.
Up to this point, my company has been sourcing hazmat certified drivers for these loads to be safe. However, we are getting to a point where locking in enough capacity for these drivers is proving more difficult.
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills because from what I understand, placards and Hazmat certified drivers are not required for class 9 regardless of weight. These also don’t seem to meet any “bulk” packaging specifications.
I’m just trying to convince my coworkers and broker ATM in order to open up capacity and reduce our freight costs a bit.
Does anyone else have any experience on the subject?
