New build with lots of lag in file explorer, task manager, windows 11 settings menus. I have another older build with i7 13700k + rtx 3090 + 64gb 6400hz 32cl ram to compare it to, and it runs significantly faster in these areas. File explorer is particularly brutal on the new build--it is usuable, but opening local folders takes about 3-5 seconds, lots of lag typing in address bar, launching a new window takes 5-10 seconds. Old build I would say is instant and very responsive by comparison.
On new build File Pilot runs very well, hwinfo runs well, 3d CAD runs well, browsing in chrome is very responsive, real-time rendering with ray tracing runs well, haven't done any gaming yet as this is mostly a work machine. Will be doing some gaming once I find time.
In Cinebench scored a little below average for my system, but very high overall (I'm not overclocking so acceptable?)
Free 3dmark on steam scored a little below average for my system, but well enough overall (again no OC other than stock OC gpu)
Passmark scored well in all areas other than 2d mark. 2d was absolute dogshit, (10-20% percentile) other than direct 2d + direct 2d svg where it scored 98th percentile. Windows interface, simple vectors, image filters all around 10th percentile. don't have gsync or vsync enabled, and have disabled my iGPU in device manager and set my preferences to dGPU.
Cooling seems to be fine. typically doesn't break 70C during benchmarks, sticks around 50-60C. at idle is 30-40C.
Any ideas? I'm pretty close to doing a clean windows install at this point, but I have my doubts it will work. My gut is telling me it is a configuration issue. This is my first build, so I wouldn't be surprised if I am missing something.
