Lease renewal has a 1 month limit?
Hello,
It's my first year leasing in Seattle and I recently got to the 6 month mark of my lease. I received my renewal offer that got a 9.65% increase (damn) but then it also has like a date range of 1 month? It says 4/22 - 5/22.
I asked in the leasing office and the person told me that the offer could change if I dont renew within that month? Then she said that maybe they would no longer be able to honor the same offers they gave me? Like I got offered a 12 month lease and a month to month offer (both at the same rent? lol), but if I take longer than a month maybe the won't have 12 month lease available anymore?
Does this sound accurate? I'm thinking she's just not too in the know. My complex uses Renew, and it seems that they are the ones choosing this rent and date range?
I will try to negotiate the rent increase. Any tips?
