Hi! My ragdolls coat has changed a bunch since I’ve had her and the vets I’ve gone to haven’t had answers for me, and recently she started to mat a TON. Can anyone weigh in on what’s going on? Is this something I should be concerned about?

Some key details

- she is a retired queen and I adopted her at age 3 post spay.

- she was diagnosed with ovarian remnant syndrome about 12 months later and had her second spay at 4.5 yrs old

- her fur from when I adopted her started as rich brown and slowly became lighter. I always assumed it was hormonal

- she has never matted, but recently has started to mat a lot. We are about 6 months post second spay. Her fur texture is also thicker and less silky

- she eats like the queen she is, smalls wet food daily

- she has gained about 1.5 lbs since her spay and she’s now on a diet (was 10.5, now around 12)

- behaviorally she is perfect, no changes there

- I know their coats can change with temperature. I moved from so cal (hot hot hot) to seattle and her coat color stayed the same, if not got lighter!

Photos

  1. Zuma when I first adopted her. You can see her coat is rich chocolate brown
  2. Post second spay, you can see texture is different
  3. Same time period as #4

Thank you!!!
