I posted a couple weeks ago about how I had a severe anaphylactic reaction to Taxol within 6 minutes of my first infusion. My MO was able to switch me to Abraxane instead. It took a few weeks to sort all that out with insurance, and today I went in for what is supposed to be my weekly infusion of Ogivri (Herceptin biosimilar) and Abraxane. They gave me premeds (Pepcid, decadron, benedryl) and then began Ogivri infusion. Within less than 10 minutes I again had a reaction with most of the same symptoms as before with Taxol (dizziness, skin turned red and hot all over my body, nausea, BP elevated). They were able to turn it around with benedryl and steroids, plus gave me IV fluids for a while. I don’t really understand why I was able to complete a 90 minutes loading dose of Ogivri previously, but today at my first weekly 30 minutes lower dose I had such a bad reaction.
Has anyone experienced reactions to Ogivri like this? Did you switch to a different biosimilar or Herceptin? Did a slower extended infusion time help you? I just can’t believe the trouble I’m having getting a chemo plan that my body can handle! And I didn’t even get to try Abraxane today since they just stopped my infusion altogether due to my reaction to Ogivri. I return on Thursday for an infusion of Abraxane only to see how I handle it. At this point I’m not feeling overly confident it will go well.
