Background: Mom here of a 4 almost 5 year old with ASD and global developmental delay. He’s in preschool part time, receives speech/OT as part of IEP and has a behavioral specialist come through to help the teacher and TAs when behavioral issues arise, which in the past 3 months a lot of behavioral issues (screaming, throwing, running off, even hitting), which have been better managed at home. A lot of ABA centers are 45 min or more away from where I live, and the Home ABA center that covers my territory hasn’t called me back since February ( I’ve given the multiple calls). We are going to move to an area that has 2 ABA centers and 2 schools for kids with ASD, and other charter/private/public school options that we might be able to try if the other spots aren’t a good fit.
Question: IN THE MEANTIME, can someone recommend reputable online resources that will start teaching parents ABA techniques/principles to help us manage behaviors and help our kiddos navigate this world and navigate how they’re experiencing it? I need help with so many things 😭. Morning routine, dressing, eating, transitions, doing boring but necessary tasks, managing feelings when something unexpected and outside told routine happens …. Or books for parents? I’ll read a book. 😅😅😅
